My teenager wanted a cake as tall as he is for his birthday.
A 5 foot 10 inch cake!!! Are you kidding? BAM's Kitchen does have some limitations.
My youngest teenage boy has grown over 12 inches, just this year. Really !!!! He eats me out of house and home and of course towers over me. You may also know him better as Healthy World Cuisine QA Analyst and Food Consultant. For all of his hard work and efforts of taking pictures in BAM's Kitchen, taste testing and having to wait to eat something because it has not yet been photographed; I wanted to do something special for him. A four tiered towering confetti birthday cake with creamy butter cream frosting was just perfect the perfect way to say thanks and wish him some very special birthday wishes.
Lots of love from mom, buddy this post is for you ...
Four Tiered Towering Confetti Birthday Cake with Creamy Butter Cream Frosting
Serves 12 adults or 4 hungry teenage boys
Confetti Cake ( Simple White Cake Recipe adapted from All Recipes.com by Scottsoman)
Makes enough cake to make four (9x9) cakes
- 4 cups white sugar
- 2 cups butter
- 8 eggs
- 2 tablespoons and 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 6 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons and 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 2 cups milk
- ⅓ Confetti sprinkles (multi-colored Jimmies)
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour (4) 9x9 inch pans.
- In a large bowl, cream together the sugar and butter. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, then stir in the vanilla. Combine flour and baking powder, add to the creamed mixture and mix well. Stir in the milk until batter is smooth. Finally, add the confetti sprinkles and gently fold into cake mix. Pour or spoon batter into the prepared pans.

Indeed tall, and I think back ground skills such as a degree in architecture or engineering would be helpful when constructing these tall master pieces.

You say your sons want to eat from my blog but I have no idea why - you are like a supermum!!!, This cake is aesthetocally stunning and quite simply, I bet, one of the tastiest things ever 😀
You are amazing my friend!
Healthy World Cuisine says
Thanks Choc Chip Uru. I only make sweet things once in awhile but you make them every day. So get ready the boys are packed and on their way.

Timber!!!!!......Lots of frosting (glue) and a steady hand for these tall ones is a requirement.

You are the best mom Bam! OMG... this could be the tallest cake I've ever seen (besides those wedding cake etc). He must have felt extra special (by the way, Happy Birthday!). 🙂 I wish I can bake a cake for my kids one day. It'll be a long long time from now though.... me with cake, hmm... not sure if it will ever be successful! Just a thought of it is scary. I rather want to enjoy someone's cake like yours! 😉
Healthy World Cuisine says
Thanks Nami-san! I have a lot of respect for professional cake makers as this requires is a lot of work, patience and architectural skills. One thing that I have learned from the experience is to trim the cakes so that they are completely flat between the layers and this helps with the structural support of the cake. Ja Mata, BAM
Taryn (Have Kitchen, Will Feed) says
That is one of the tallest cakes I've seen - excellent work!
Healthy World Cuisine says
Thanks Taryn, I think if I added just one more layer I would have to invest in one of those rods or supporting devices to keep it from falling over. I give alot of credit to professional cake decorators as it is alot of work.
Joanne Ozug says
WOWIE that is a big cake!!! Yum!!!
Healthy World Cuisine says
I can confirm that it was also very very heavy. BIG CAKE!!!!! I can only imagine how heavy those professional wedding cakes must be. Take Care

Thanks Mandy. No need to bench press any weights today, just moving the towering cake from the kitchen to dining room table was enough exercise for me.... Take Care, BAM

I love how you described how many servings this cake feeds. As a mom of 4 hungry teenage boys, I completely understand how voracious their appetites can be. When I bring out a 9 X13 pan of brownies or cake, they often ask if I will just cut it into 4 pieces to save them the trouble of going back for thirds and fourths. That cake is simply stunning. I can just imagine my kids' eyeballs popping out if I placed one like it on the table!!
Healthy World Cuisine says
God Bless you!!!! You are so outnumbered- 4 teenage boys, Oh my goodness. I can only imagine your grocery bills...Thanks so much for stopping by my website so I could find yours. Take Care and looking forward to keeping in touch. BAM

Having gone through the teenage boy stage with my son many years ago, I can appreciate that a huge cake will barely feed four teenage boys. They seem to have hollow legs. Nice job on the cake and the words!
Healthy World Cuisine says
Thanks Kathleen, it is nice to know that you survived this phase in your life with teenage boys. Where you ever allowed to leave the kitchen???? Take care, BAM

Wowsers! That's dedication - gorgeous looking cake!
