Chargrilled Halloumi Prosciutto Wrapped Nectarines and Balsamic Glaze appetizers are topped with a grilled prosciutto wrapped nectarine and drizzled with a balsamic reduction glaze.
Why you are going to love Chargrilled Halloumi Prosciutto Wrapped Nectarines and Balsamic Glaze Appetizers
Oh yeah! This is one appetizer that has it all going on; sweet, savory, chewy, and a deliciously sticky sweet and sour glaze. Seriously delicious and all ready in less than 30 minutes. This little appetizer is happily gluten-free.
Do you think it has a long enough name... Chargrilled Halloumi Prosciutto Wrapped Nectarines and Balsamic Glaze!!??!!! Yeah, I know I could not think am way of shortening it unless you just call it, "The Perfect Appetizer".
It sounds and tastes like something you would get in one of those really fancy 3 Michelin Star restaurants. However, they would only put one of them on your plate, charge you $20 USD/ $160 HKD and you would still be hungry.
I really cannot decide if I would like this as an appetizer or as an ending to a meal. You know how I do not like my desserts too sweet and this would be a fun cheese and fruit platter at the end of the meal too. If you love the idea of grilled nectarines, you are going to love our Grilled Nectarines with Coconut Cream for dessert.
It is the season to grill and entertain. Chargrilled Halloumi Prosciutto Wrapped Nectarines and Balsamic Glaze bites are perfect way to spread the love with family and friends who come to gather. I think a glass of Pinot Grigio or sparkling white wine would pair nicely.
Stone fruits are in their glory now and in peak season. Peaches, plums and nectarines are plentiful and so sweet. A perfect way to celebrate in the in season bounty is with this little delicious bite.
Easy Appetizer Idea for Entertaining
If you do not have a grill or BBQ, don't worry as you can easily make this on a grill pan or even just in a pan on the top of the stove. I used nectarines, as my family prefers them to their furry skinned cousin, the peach. However, you could use either.
Just on a side note, you can prepare the balsamic glaze, slice the halloumi cheese and prepare and wrap your nectarines with prosciutto and then just grill and plate when your guests arrive. This appetizer is best served hot off the grill. However, if you are busy taking photos and fussing with the lighting and dealing with your kids , these appetizers can be easily microwaved for just a few seconds as they taste best hot.
This recipe makes more balsamic glaze reduction than what you will need for this recipe. You can thank me later as this balsamic glaze is delicious over a caprese salad, grilled salmon or even over ice-cream with strawberries.

Chargrilled Halloumi Prosciutto Wrapped Nectarines and Balsamic Glaze
Ingredients
Balsamic Reduction Glaze (yields ~⅓ cup)
- 1 cup balsamic vinegar
It makes extra so you can use with other recipes. - 1 tablespoon honey
(or low glycemic sugar such as coconut sugar, maple syrup or even without if diabetic)
Chargrilled Halloumi Prosciutto Wrapped Nectarines
- 8 oz Halloumi cheese
- 1 whole nectarines pit removed and sliced into 8 slices
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 2 slices prosciutto cut lengthwise and then again in half (each slice cut into 4 long slices)
Instructions
- In a small sauce pan add the balsamic vinegar and honey cook to a boil and then turn down to low-medium heat until reduced to half or a little less than half, and occasionally stir. You will want to ventilate your home ( as the vinegar can be quite strong) and keep an eye on the pan so it does not burn. The goal is for the balsamic glaze to coat the back of the spoon (about 15 minutes). The glaze will thicken as it cools slightly as well. Set aside.
- Slice the halloumi cheese in about ¼ inch slices. Cut the nectarines into 8 slices per each. Toss the nectarines and halloumi cheese the into olive oil to coat.
- Preheat the grill.
- Cut each slice of prosciutto lengthwise then again in half horizontally. Wrap each nectarine with ¼ slice of the prosciutto.
- Grill the olive oil coated halloumi cheese and prosciutto wrapped nectarines for 2 to 3 minutes on each side or until the halloumi cheese has nice grill marks and the prosciutto wrapped nectarine is slightly golden brown. Do not over cook. Do not take your eyes off the grill as they cook fast.
- Drizzle Chargrilled Halloumi Prosciutto Wrapped Nectarines with a drizzle of the balsamic reduction glaze and enjoy!

What a delicious idea, Bam. I usually pair Parma ham with figs and blue cheese, but this is such a great cheese/fruit/meat combo.

Good lord I'm in love. Pinning this to my Let's Get it Started group board and sending you an invite to join us, if you like. There are some really creative ideas for starters there. I never thought about using halloumi as a base. Now my mind is racing!
Healthy World Cuisine says
Thank you Christine. I am thinking halloumi is like a surf board and the toppings ideas are endless. Thanks so much for the pin and the invite.

I love halloumi, grew up on the stuff. Love the squeakiness 🙂
I like your pairing with the sweet and salty, and then the glaze. It's a great appetiser.
Healthy World Cuisine says
Yes it does have that little squeakiness sound when you eat it.. So fun to eat!

WOW! What a decadent snack, which I would probably just make a meal out of. There a simple little breakfast that I do with peaches and fried cheese, but THIS is so much better! The proscuitto and "grilled" cheese really takes it over the top. Another MUST TRY!
Healthy World Cuisine says
Thanks MJ! I literally lived off of this on 1 day for breakfast, lunch and dinner and never got tired of that delicious sweet and salty combo. Yep it is like a kicked up grilled cheese. LOL

I'm loving this! I recently made a peach, prosciutto, Queso de Freir stuffed chicken breast, so this appetizer combo is right up my alley! Pinning.

Oh that sounds amazing and I am on my way over to check out your recipe straight away.

Wow Bobbie - these are amazing! I think they are truly worthy of being calle "The PERFECT appetizer"! Love, love, love this combo of Chargrilled Halloumi, Prosciutto Wrapped Nectarines and Balsamic Glaze!
Robyn Gleason says
MMMmmmm, this has all my favourites! A little sweet, lots of savoury, different textures and it looks gorgeous, too! Such a brilliant idea, Bobbi. I've been using halloumi cheese since Cliff started asking for it after being in the Middle East and I cannot get enough of balsamic vinegar lately. It's so perfect on fresh fruit. I've been eating bacon and prosciutto again after being off of it for years. I've decided that small amounts that contribute to the flavouring are perfectly ok. Sharing all over cos I want everyone to see your beautiful photography!!
Healthy World Cuisine says
Thanks so much Robyn for your sweet comment. I bet Cliff has loads of good recipe ideas after being in the Middle East. Ask him what his favorite dishes are and maybe you can recreate them and bring them to a new level with some fresh veggies from the farms. I am not real big on bacon and prosciutto but every once in awhile, just a little bit is okay. Now boys on the other hand thing bacon is its own food group... LOL Wishing you a super weekend!

Hi Bam, these look delicious, and definitely hits all the notes, I just bought halloumi cheese from Trader Joes and was not yet sure what to do with it, now I do. Thanks!
Hester @ Alchemy in the Kitchen says
Yum! I tend to go for panfried with lime and chillies but this sweet, salty, sharp, squeeky combo sounds absolutely luscious! Stunning pics too.
Jasline @ Foodie Baker says
This looks so lovely and delicious! I haven't fully decipher the symbols that are labelling the cheeses in the supermarket, when I do I hope to try this out!
Healthy World Cuisine says
Hello Jasline, you gave me a good chuckle picturing your trying to decipher what is what in the grocery store. LOL Have you started language training? I remember when we first arrived in Japan and for the life of me I could not find butter/margarine. I ended up bringing home cream cheese, sour cream, and you name it... eventually when I learned katakana and hiragana it was like Helen Keller getting her eyesight back... Keep strong! I promise it will get better, always so difficult when you first move to a new country.
hotlyspiced says
This does look like the perfect appetiser. I would adore all those flavours. I do love nectarines and so wish they were in season right now. And halloumi is one of my favourites - so wonderful with the balsamic glaze! xx
Culinary Flavors says
I love halloumi but I love it even more when it is chargrilled! Try wrapping the bacon around the halloumi strips and grill them. You will be amazed! Pinned and shared in fb!
Healthy World Cuisine says
I will most certainly try your hint soon, that sounds really delicious. Thanks so much for sharing, I have plans to make your delicious brownies this upcoming weekend (of course I have to sort it out to make it gluten free and egg free for me) but I know they will be delicious.

This looks like a great appetizer! I'm not familiar with halloumi cheese so I'll have to look for that!
