These easy Chargrilled Halloumi and Prosciutto Nectarines with Balsamic Glaze are one of our favorite sweet and savory summer appetizers. Prosciutto is wrapped around sweet and juicy nectarines and grilled along side the fun squeaky grilled halloumi.
To serve we place the grilled halloumi on a platter. Next, top it with the prosciutto wrapped nectarine slices. Finally, we drizzle a little sweet and tangy balsamic reduction glaze over the top.

Less than 30 Minute Appetizer
Oh yeah! This is one appetizer that has it all going on; sweet, savory, chewy, and a deliciously sticky sweet and sour glaze. Seriously delicious and all ready in less than 30 minutes. This little appetizer is happily gluten-free.
Do you think it has a long enough name... Chargrilled Halloumi and Prosciutto Nectarines with Balsamic Glaze!!??!!! Yeah, I know I could not think am way of shortening it unless you just call it, "The Perfect Appetizer".
It sounds and tastes like something you would get in one of those really fancy 3 Michelin Star restaurants. However, they would only put one of them on your plate, charge you $20 USD/ $160 HKD and you would still be hungry.
Fun Charcuterie Board Addition
I really cannot decide if I would like this as an appetizer or a sweet ending to a meal. You know how I do not like my desserts too sweet. This would be a fun cheese and fruit platter at the end of the meal too. If you love the idea of grilled nectarines, you are going to love our Grilled Nectarines with Coconut Cream for dessert or our grilled shrimp nectarine salad.
It is the season to grill and entertain. Grilled nectarines and halloumi bites are perfect way to spread the love with family and friends who come to gather. I think a glass of Pinot Grigio or sparkling white wine would pair nicely.
Stone fruits are in their glory now and in peak season. Peaches, plums and nectarines are plentiful and so sweet.
How to Make: Step by Step
If you do not have a grill or BBQ, don't worry as you can easily make this on a grill pan or in a pan on the top of the stove. I used nectarines, as my family prefers them to their furry skinned cousin, the peach. However, you could use either.
Just on a side note, you can prepare the balsamic glaze, slice the halloumi cheese and prepare and wrap your nectarines with prosciutto. Then, grill and plate when your guests arrive.
This appetizer is best served hot off the grill. However, these appetizers can be easily microwaved for just a few seconds as they taste best hot.
Balsamic Glaze
This recipe makes more balsamic glaze reduction than what you will need for this recipe. You can thank me later as this balsamic glaze is delicious over a caprese salad, grilled salmon or even over ice-cream with strawberries.

Chargrilled Halloumi and Prosciutto Nectarines with Balsamic Glaze
Ingredients
Balsamic Reduction Glaze (yields ~⅓ cup)
- 1 cup balsamic vinegar
It makes extra so you can use with other recipes. - 1 tablespoon honey
(or low glycemic sugar such as coconut sugar, maple syrup or even without if diabetic)
Chargrilled Halloumi Prosciutto Wrapped Nectarines
- 8 ounces Halloumi cheese
- 1 whole nectarines pit removed and sliced into 8 slices
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 2 slices prosciutto cut lengthwise and then again in half (each slice cut into 4 long slices)
Instructions
- In a small sauce pan add the balsamic vinegar and honey cook to a boil and then turn down to low-medium heat until reduced to half or a little less than half, and occasionally stir. You will want to ventilate your home ( as the vinegar can be quite strong) and keep an eye on the pan so it does not burn. The goal is for the balsamic glaze to coat the back of the spoon (about 15 minutes). The glaze will thicken as it cools slightly as well. Set aside.
- Slice the halloumi cheese in about ¼ inch slices. Cut the nectarines into 8 slices per each. Toss the nectarines and halloumi cheese the into olive oil to coat.
- Preheat the grill.
- Cut each slice of prosciutto lengthwise then again in half horizontally. Wrap each nectarine with ¼ slice of the prosciutto.
- Grill the olive oil coated halloumi cheese and prosciutto wrapped nectarines for 2 to 3 minutes on each side or until the halloumi cheese has nice grill marks and the prosciutto wrapped nectarine is slightly golden brown. Do not over cook. Do not take your eyes off the grill as they cook fast.
- Drizzle Chargrilled Halloumi Prosciutto Wrapped Nectarines with a drizzle of the balsamic reduction glaze and enjoy!

It does look like the perfect summer-time appetizer! I do love the flavour of Halloumi but it makes my teeth squeak which kind of freaks me out!! I just don't like that squeaky sound. But I love the flavours
Marissa (@pinchandswirl) says
What a great flavor combination. I love things that are sweet and salty!
Healthy World Cuisine says
Thank you Marissa, I love that sweet and salty combo too. I hope this note finds you well. Have a super week.

I'd eat this at both ends of the meal! Although I certainly like sweet things, my real preference is for savory. So this would make a terrific dessert. Really nice -- thanks.

Hello John, I think this would be a perfect ending to a meal too. Now, we just have to decide on a cocktail from Kitchen Riff's that you suggest to compliment this dish... Take Care
Dawn says
Looks awesome, perfect appetizer!!
Healthy World Cuisine says
Thank you Dawn. I know you cannot have dairy but just the grilled prosciutto wrapped nectarines alone with the balsamic glaze is perfect too, just skip the halloumi. cheese.

Love the end note about lighting, kids, photos, etc. and needing to microwave the dish. I can't tell you how often I do that! This appetizer sounds amazing! I love the combo of sweet and salty. And well, anything with balsamic!!
Healthy World Cuisine says
Hiya Kristy! I know us moms are always multitasking with doing at least 4-5 things at a time always... enjoy your summer with your kids as they are really at that fun age. Take care

These look fabulous! A great way to use Halloumi, which I find challenging to an extent.
Healthy World Cuisine says
Thank you Mimi. Our family loves halloumi cheese. It is great on its own with a little lemon on top of pitas, on salads or so many things.
The Gourmet Gourmand says
Gah this looks so good! I'm pretty sure this could be served for all 3 courses and no one would complain 😉 I literally JUST made a proscuitto peach salad... love that flavor combo. I'll definitely have to try it nectarines with halloumi. Yum!
Healthy World Cuisine says
Don't you just love that combination! Nectarines, prosciutto and peppery rocket with a balsamic vinaigrette- yum!
Norma Chang says
On a cheese-free diet but no issue here with the bacon wrapped nectarines, I would be happy eating this as a main and definitely will make extra balsamic glaze.
Healthy World Cuisine says
A dairy free or lactose free diet, no problem, just hold the cheese. I have to tell you that I personally tested several plain grilled prosciutto wrapped nectarines with a little of the balsamic glaze and they are perfect all on their own... One has to do quality assurance, of course....LOL
thecompletebook says
Absolutely mouthwatering -I could happily do this for a starter, main and dessert.
Have a super day Bam.
🙂 Mandy xo
Healthy World Cuisine says
Thank you Mandy. I was sampling them all day for breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks and even desserts.. Fun to eat all day to satisfy that sweet and salty craving.
Eha says
Luvverly! What an interesting conundrum? First or last course? Usually serve more than one of the first and perchance none for the last but think I could work my way around having this as a slow last with a wine not quite, quite dry [and that is a sacrilege for me!] . . . . beautiful combination I do not think I have ever quite had in the same way . . . we live and learn 🙂 !
Healthy World Cuisine says
Thank you Eha, Maybe just to be safe have them for both an appetiser and then more for dessert. You know just for quality assurance testing.. (wink, wink) I hope you are doing well, sending some positive thoughts your way. Take Care
Maureen | Orgasmic Chef says
I would never have thought of eating this for dessert if you hadn't suggested it. That's very clever!
Healthy World Cuisine says
Hi there Maureen! I have been thinking of you and sending some positive thoughts your way.
Tandy | Lavender and Lime says
The balsamic glaze is so easy to make that I'm sure to give it a go 🙂
Healthy World Cuisine says
Thanks Tandy! Making a little extra of the balsamic glaze with your sugar alternative will be delicious...
Sandra - The Foodie Affair says
Perfect appetizer for the title would be appropriate! Such a lovely looking appetizer, but I think this would be a perfect ending to a meal! I don't think I've had halloumi cheese before and now I'm so curious about the flavor! Yum!
Healthy World Cuisine says
Thanks Sandra... Halloumi cheese has a salty and buttery taste to it when it is grilled and complements this dish well. I love halloumi cheese just grilled or pan seared, with a little olive oil and then drizzled with a little lemon juice and served with warmed pita bread.
